DJ Nomadik in the mix.DJ Campus Clash Winner Chosen
The 2014 Red Bull UKZN DJ Campus clash was won by Rhys Fataar (DJ Nomadik), a fourth year Public Administration student on the Westville campus.
Qualifiers were held on the Westville and Howard College campuses with about 20 competing on each campus. Eight entrants were chosen to participate in the finals on the Howard College campus.
Fataar wooed the crowd in his allocated three minutes and was a very popular winner.
‘Music has always been a big part of my family and my life and I try to relate everything I do to music whether it be playing guitar or drumming against a table.
His first break into the DJ world came in 2011 where he was given an opportunity by the manager of a club in Durban. ‘I love music and making people happy. When I see people dancing without worrying what others think of them, that makes me the most happy as I know I’ve brought a group of strangers together.’
Fataar’s prize includes an opportunity to record at the Red Bull Studios in Cape Town with travel and accommodation costs fully paid.
